So long to the good old days on the Tribune Empty So long to the good old days on the Tribune

So long to the good old days of enjoying all of the great posting membership of the Tribune that will soon be gone but not forgotten by many.

So long to all of the great informational links posted by that same posting membership that helped to educate an entire online community.

So long to all of the great debates over the innumerable issues we discussed here daily.

So long to all of the great moments of laughter we provided for each other.

So long to all of those times helping the reporters correct their articles and in turn making the Tribune more accurate and accountable.

So long to enjoying the few City officials comment with us on issues that they wanted to help with. Tom Dresner was the best.

So long to commenting on Hank's at times odd ball editorials that often times were so far out in left or right field nobody wanted to comment at all on them.

So long to Trib Talk. You were our greatest forms of free entertainment while we all browsed and I know I looked forward to the newest installment daily.

So long Tribune it was a lot of fun but in your greed for more money you forgot about your most important asset.....................your comment posting membership that set the status quo for journalism accountability. Now you will have nobody to be accountable to except yourselves because you just lost a huge portion of your readership.

On December 1st somebody please remember to wash out all of the Coffee cups for the last time, dust down and cover up the biggest Round Table in the online Community of Columbia, clean out the Refrigerator of all the junk, remember to take any personal memorabilia like your best posts and save them to a text file, vacuum the floor and turn off the lights.

The new Round Table Room will be a lot smaller and this room of it's size will no longer be needed.

Hopefully we will see each other somewhere locally online and all be able to settle into one place once again.

Peace out.

Oh my! Charles, I think you are seriously going to miss the Trib. Perhaps you should reconsider paying their fee, but alas, I don't think it would be worth it for their news alone. It would be the company that you miss, and I doubt there will be much of that.

They did this very thing some time back, killing off the forums that the members enjoyed so well. It's kind of an insult really, but hey, they are trying to make some moolah. I just thinkt that $8 a month is a bit extreme. Perhaps if they paid posters in points, that could be used to read for the number of posts they make?

Yes it was heart wrenching. When they killed that board, it was in order to get their new format going to where posters could only comment on what they opened up for comment, under their stories. They already had it in place that no one could start their own topic, but that just wasn't quite enough control for them. They were quick to not only just without notice delete posts, but also to ban members. Now they will have full control, over not much of anything.

Opps choppedliver just had a bunch of his posts removed. Gee I wonder why? I guess they do not like the idea of competition but what is funny though is there is no competition.

That is because forums and blogs do not have to adhere to the analistic standards of the likes of the Tribune.

I knew they would get around to it. It took them until what, about 11:30 or so? Now, does anyone have any ideas about how to get the word out to those that would be interested in posting here? I don't have any email addies from the folks on the trib at all.

Ya it took them awhile but now they will be watching. I posted a plug for this site on Topix this morning,on my forum and added it to the list I have of free posting places on Facebook. If you want post a link on FreeTalkColumbia Yahoo! Group Listserv and just leep spreading the word to others.

I hope the Admin here submitted this site to all of the Search Engines, put the Meta Tag Word Strings into the Header of the front page and inserted the needed Search Bot/Spider Coding into the Header so that the Bots/Spiders will crawl the site daily.

Have they started their pay per view yet? I guess we can't know until we have tried to click on and read the 11th story in a month. Mad

Creating multiple accounts and using CCleaner is useful as well.

So far, Google Chrome's incognito page has served me well. They sure don't have as many comments as they did though. I bet they will refigure their genius plan in the near future.

I just use Opera only for the rib with never a worry as that is all that browser does and then I only check the Trib 2-3 times a day that is it.

My own community forum is going smooth still.

Columbia Free Speak has turned into a porn spam forum sad to say. No

I've been using Google Chrome to surf the Trib. Amazingly, Hank has posted a couple of editorials that I have agreed with.
